Low-Carb Diet = Low-Energy Life

Some truths about the low-carb diet.

Hanging around gyms and working in the fitness industry all of my adult life, I've heard countless unforgettable quick remedies to achieve a healthier you. My favorite of all time, which still has some legs, is the low-carb diet for losing weight.

First thing is first, if you cut out any of the three macronutrients (carbs, fat, and protein) our body needs to survive, you're going to experience some weight loss. Second, carbohydrates are broken down into glucose to fuel your body, and glucose is especially essential for brain function; it is the most efficient form of energy for the brain. Whenever I encounter someone on a low-carb diet, one of the first questions I ask them is "how tired are you?" Third, consuming carbs causes your body to hold onto more water, so the initial weight loss you experience from cutting carbs out of your diet is only water you were previously holding onto.

The key is what kind of carbs you're eating. I'll be 31 years old next month, I'm eating more carbs now than I ever have in my entire life, and I've never had less body fat. I weigh 40 lbs less than I did 5 years ago, and I've never felt better than I do now!
