Braves Come Up Short

Indian Hills loses a heartbreaker to Westwood, 34-27

In non-conference action on the road Thursday, the Indian Hills Braves (1-4) couldn't get past the Westwood Cardinals (4-1) and dropped a 34-27 decision despite strong performances by the offense.

The Braves' quarterback Danny Thompson, who went 12-for-18 for 170 yards and rushed for 88 yards, struck first with a 15-yard TD toss to Brady Altana. But Westwood answered back on the legs of their ground one-two punch of Joey Spies who had 12 carries for 88 yards and Ryan Galloway who had 18 carries for 130 yards, including four touchdowns.

Still, the Braves hung in there, even taking a 21-20 lead into halftime, courtesy of scores by Chad Campbell (45-yard pass) and Danny Dellaiocono n(6 yards), both from Thompson. After a scoreless third quarter, Westwood tacked on a pair of touchdowns, negating Indian Hills' valiant late efforts, which included a 30-yard pass to Valon Kortoci.
