BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A new program requiring municipalities to provider shelter to homeless people during especially cold weather has been implemented throughout the county.

The program requires that municipalities with a documented homeless population of more than 10 people provide shelter to them when the National Weather Service forecasts the temperature to be 32 degrees or lower with precipitation, 25 or lower without precipitation or the wind chill to be less than 0 for two or more hours.
