Franklin Lakes Planning Board Deems United Water Application Complete
The utility will begin presenting testimony about the planned treatment facility at the board's next meeting.

The Franklin Lakes Planning Board deemed United Water's application complete Wednesday to build a new treatment facility at the site of their current facility on Wyandotte Drive, near McBride Field.
The board will begin hearing testimony about United Water's proposal at their next meeting.
According to Anthony Delescinskis, of United Water, the plan is to replace the current 600-square-foot treatment facility with a new 1,400-square-foot treatment facility that will filter iron and manganese from water drawn from a well on site and another well on High Mountain Road.

Delescinskis said the chemicals pose no health hazards, but can affect the color of the water. United Water will not be seeking any variances as part of the application.
United Water also plans to dig a new well at the Wyandotte Drive site to replace two existing wells that have deteriorated. Delescinskis said that they plan to begin work on that well in three or four weeks. The new well is not part of the application before the planning board.

According to Delescinskis, the new well will allow the fire department to begin using a nearby fire hydrant again, which had been shut down because of low water pressure in the two old wells.
The next meeting of the Franklin Lakes Planning Board is scheduled for February 1 in .
