Indian Hills Closes Sports Season with Varsity Awards Dinner
The Braves spring athletes came out to the Brownstone Thursday for the end of the season awards dinner.
Indian Hills honored all of the spring sports teams and athletes at their end of the season awards dinner Thursday at the Brownstone. Boys and Girls Track, Golf, Boys Tennis, Softball, Baseball, and Boys and Girls Lacrosse coaches took the podium throughout the night and lauded the efforts of their respective athlete's all evening.
Taking the podium at his final varsity dinner was Athletic Director Bob Van Saders, who retires at the end of the year after 25 years as an AD. Principal Al Evangelista began the program by congratulating Van Saders and thanking him for all the hard work he has put in over the years, and nearly all the coaches followed suit.
But this night was not about Van Saders, rather it was about all the athletes. Every athlete in attendance was honored by their coaches, and a select few were given individual awards by their team. That elite company included Ken Fobian (Golf), Christie Testa (Softball), and Kurt Strittmatter (Baseball).

Although the dinner did mark the end of the spring season, two teams are yet to hang up the cleats. The track team will conclude their season at championships this weekend, and the softball squad will continue to play as long as they keep winning.
Coach Joe Leicht's softball team came to the dinner directly from their North 1, Group 3 quarterfinals game against Wayne Hills; coming with smiles on their faces after a 5-0 win.
