McGuire Signs Letter of Intent to Play Lacrosse at Providence College

Wyckoff resident among 15 BC players signing

Wyckoff native Brendon McGuire, one of , is on his way to play Division I lacrosse at Providence College.

McGuire, a three-year member of the BC varsity lacrosse program, earned All-Suburban honors in Bergen County last spring and worked hard beyond practice to set him apart from the competition.

"So few lacrosse players are recruited just on their high school reel," said , who committed over the fall to Providence College. "It's the summer leagues that get you noticed. Providence was the right choice for me because I wanted something with a small campus."

During his junior year, the midfielder netted 35 goals, 16 assists and nabbed eight ground balls for a total of 51 points. He has a total career of 67 points (49 goals and 18 assists) heading into his final year wearing red and gold.

"[Our class] are all very close friends," McGuire said. "There is that special connection with the teachers and coaches, being able to goof around in the halls. It's the little things, like stopping traffic to march with the Crazies for the Bergen/Bosco football game."

McGuire follows in the footsteps of older brother Sean, who committed to a Division I lacrosse program at the University of Maryland as an attacker.
