Opinion: Christie's Keynote is 'Unifying Signal' for GOP

The governor’s speech was a unifying signal for all of us after a divisive primary season. It struck the right balance in setting forth the optimism of the future set forth in the program of the GOP and also reminding all of us that we would not be where we are today without the fight, hard work, determination and sacrifices of the past, which are not things that we should either take for granted or rest on our laurels about.

He clearly told everyone that getting us back on the right track will not be easy—but that it can be done, and we can take back control over our destiny and return this country to its rightful place of leadership and success tempered with the understanding that this will not be an easy task.

In speaking from a position of “having done that” here in N.J. I believe that his words are not merely “words” but evidence that if you set your mind to something you can accomplish it.

A message that applies to everyone. We tell our children this same thing.

The governor has set the proverbial line in the sand for both parties. However, as a Republican, his message is clear: I have done what is necessary and Mr. Romney shares this vision.
