WYCKOFF, N.J. - Social media users took to social media Tuesday and blasted now-absent police Chief Benjamin C. Fox, who is being investigated for racial profiling.

Fox allegedly sent an email in December 2014 saying ‘Profiling, racial or otherwise, has its place when used correctly and applied fairly,' according to the ACLU.

The Township Committee convened an emergency meeting Tuesday night to address the email. Fox asked to go on immediate administrative leave while the investigation was pending.

At the ACLU's request, the Attorney General's office and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office are investigating whether Fox in fact advised his officers to engage in racial profiling.
