Power Outage at Boulder Run Shopping Center

Tractor-trailor knocks down power lines. PSE&G expects power to be disrupted for next 5-6 hours.

A GNC tractor-trailor stuck live power lines behind the Boulder Run Shopping Center in Wyckoff at approximately 10:50 a.m.,  resulting in the occupants being trapped inside for about 15 minutes until emergency crews arrived on the scene, according to the Wyckoff Police Department.

There were no injuries reported.

Electricity to many of the stores in the Boulder Run complex, including Starbucks and McDonalds, has been disrupted and the stores are temporarily closed. The power is expected to be restored by 6 p.m.

Starbucks, a local mid-afternoon haven for many in the area, was dark as employee Quinn Fitpatrick had to turn away many wouldbe customers offering an explanation instead of a caffeine fix.

"We saw the lights flicker on and off and someone told me there was a small transformer fire after the truck hit some power lines out back," Fitzpatrick said. "It's not really the way you want to start your week, but what are you gonna do?"

Taking as many perishable supplies from the Starbucks to his car as possible, Fitzpatrick said he expected the store to be closed for the remainder of the day.
