Ramapo, Indian Hills Athletes Earn All-League Honors

These student athletes received special recognition

As the students at Ramapo and Indian Hills High School prepare for graduation this afternoon, here's rundown of the student atheletes who received the nod for All-League honors because of their strong play this year in the Big North.

 

GOLF

Big North Independence

1st Team- Erick Regojo, Alex Fodi, Michael Galdi

2nd Team- Tom Opila, Joe Van Calcar

Honorable Mention- Andrew Knapp, Chris Mintz

Big North Patriot

1st Team- Kyle Koonjy, Ken Fobian

2nd Team- Adam Rosen

Honorable Mention- Steve Maggio, Chris Lee

BASEBALL

Big North National

1st Team- TJ Hunt (P), Ari Kaufman (P), Joe Scaglione (C), Chris Liquori (IF), John Gandolfo (OF), Justin Gartner (DH)

Honorable Mention- Nick Madormo, Chris Thompson

Coach of the Year- Mickey Hunt

Ramapo finished with a 21-6 record and ranked #5 in North Jersey in the final standings. The Raiders owned the list of 1st teamers and were runner-up in the county tournament to help Coach Hunt take home Coach of the Year honors.

SOFTBALL

1st Team- Christine Boylan (INF), Victoria Sobel (P), Ersilia Imbimbo (OF), Emily Brown (AL), Alyssa Nacco (AL)

2nd Team- Lexi Graber (1B), Caitlyn Hickey (INF), JK McAvoy (AL), Melanie Psota (AL)

Honorable Mention- Marykate Probert, Alyssa Incantalupo

Big North Patriot

1st Team- Morgan Levine (1B), Kelly Strittmatter (INF), Nicole Paiotti (C), Ashley DeYoung (P), Carey Houston (OF), Nicole Leocata (AL)

2nd Team- Kara Pepper (OF), Madison Levine (AL)

Honorable Mention- Christie Testa, Jackie Connolly

Two athletes were named Athlete of the Week by the Bergen Record for their exceptional play in the final weeks of the season. Both Taylor Clarkson (IH) and Jonathan Carcione (Ramapo) won state championships in their respective sports.

June 7: Taylor Clarkson, Track- Indian Hills

June 14: Jonathan Carcione, Tennis

Jonathan won the state singles championship, defeating reigning champ Michael Lippens 7-5, 6-2 in the final. Read more about him HERE.
