Ramapo High School Relay For Life Crosses $50K Fundraising Mark

The student-run event is May 19 and 20 at the school.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — More than $50,000 has been donated to the Ramapo High School Relay for Life fundraiser.

Relay for Life is a national, student-led event held at thousands of high schools throughout the country. Cancer survivors, their families and members of the community walk around high school tracks all day and night to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff Relay for Life is May 19 and 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ramapo High School. The goal is to raise $250,000. Team Janice is the top fundraising team with more than $6,780.

A special luminaria ceremony honoring cancer victims and survivors and their families will be held during the event the night of May 19. Paper bags with notes written on the outside and candles placed inside them will be lined around the school's walking track.
