ShopRite Proposal Back Before Planning Board Tonight
Inserra to present traffic data
Inserra Supermarkets will be back before the Wyckoff Planning Board this evening presenting follow-up traffic data and testimony relating to attempts to build a proposed 62,174-square-foot ShopRite on the corner of Wyckoff and Greenwood Avenues.
At the request of Planning Board members, the Inserra development team agreed to pursue discussions with Bergen County regarding a proposed traffic signal at the intersection of Wyckoff and Greenwood Avenues to improve driver wait times and pedestrian safety. Inserra has agreed to fund, coordinate and install the traffic light.
At a Planning Board meeting in January, William Parry of the Parsippany-based H2M Group Inc. informed the board of efforts his firm has taken over the past decade to clean up the property, which was most recently a supermarket but for decades had served as a petroleum facility. H2M has been working on behalf of the property owner, the Grossman family, and under the direction of the Department of Environmental Protection to remove petroleum and chlorine contaminants found on the site.

According to Inserra, current “as-is” conditions warrant a traffic light at the corner of Wyckoff and Greenwood avenues as vehicles are currently experiencing delays of more than 50 seconds. The traffic light would also create numerous artificial gaps for turning vehicles, including those entering/exiting St. Elizabeth’s Church and School and the Wyckoff YMCA driveway.
Tonight’s Planning Board meeting will be at Memorial Town Hall at 7:30 p.m.
