Solar Panels, Field Renovations On Agenda For Tuesday Township Committee Meeting
Representative from PSE&G expected to attend
Tuesday's Township Committee meeting will feature discussion on two hot button issues in town: solar panels and field renovations.
Representatives from PSE&G will be on hand to discuss the solar panels the company has been placing on utility poles throughout Wyckoff, Midland Park and Waldwick. In March, town representatives from Wyckoff, Glen Rock and Ridgewood met with PSE&G to discuss a temporary halt to continued placement of the panels until it was clear the utility had the jurisdiction to install them without input from the respective towns.
It's unclear if the utility agreed to such a moratorium, but last month PSE&G spokesman Paul Rosengren told Wyckoff Patch the solar panel initiative was "part of a statewide installation. We're putting tens of thousands of these units up. And they'll be generating collectively 40 megawatts of clean, green solar energy."

Also making a followup presentation will be the Parks and Recreation Foundation. The group, headed by foundation President Chris Vanuga, has proposed $3.5 million in renovations to Memorial Complex & Town Center, Pulis Fields and the Larkin House which would include adding a large synthetic turf with a multi-sport field; a new performing arts gazebo; snack stand and reflecting pool at Memorial and adding two multi-sport synthetic fields; one grass multi-sport field, lights; a walking/running track, snack stand at Pulis.
At the groups' last presentation before the township committee several residents from the Spring Meadows Condominium Association voiced opposition to the proposals, citing concerns about increased traffic, light and noise.
