After winning just one game in 2010, the Braves of 2011 made a statement by defeating reigning state champion Lakeland. Quarterback Danny Thompson had a career day, recording over 400 yards of total offense and 5 touchdowns. The junior ran for 232 yards and 4 TDs while throwing for 186 and a score. Valon Kortoci caught the TD pass and Danny Dellaiacono rushed for what would be the game winning touchdown.

Late in the fourth quarter Lakeland scored a touchdown and needed just an extra point to tie it. Instead, they went for the glory and tried for the two-point conversion, but the Braves defense came up with the huge stop to propel them to victory. IH moves to 1-1 and faces an even bigger test on Friday when they travel to Old Tappan to take on Devin Fuller and the Golden Knights.
