Bergen County Quarterfinals
Jen Andresen’s first-half goal would prove to be the game-winner as Ramapo shut down #7 Pascack Valley to earn the shutout win. Andresen scored the game’s first goal, then later assisted on Ramapo’s third goal by Jamie Barna. Noelle Trattou scored the second goal, less than a minute before Barna broke the game open.

The win puts Ramapo back in the county semis where they will take on IHA next Sunday at River Dell.
BOYS SOCCER
Sunday
Raiders 1 – Wallington 0
Bergen County Quarterfinals
Wallington gave the top-seeded Green Raiders all they could handle, but in the end it was Ramapo who was heading back to the county semifinals. A second-half goal by Sean Ethridge was the games’ lone goal in this defensive battle. James Buenovita provided the assist, and Will Shiel made the only two saves he needed to make to earn the shutout in net.
The rivalry will renew on Sunday in Demarest when the Raiders take on Northern Highlands with a trip to the finals on the line.
Friday
Raiders 2 – Paramus Catholic 0
Goals were scored by Chris Nash and James Buenovita and goalkeeper Will Shiel had 4 saves to earn another shutout.
FOOTBALL
The Raiders had another strong victory coming off a loss, defeating Wayne Valley 38-15 on Friday. The offensive line provided great push, allowing running back Matt Alpert to rush for 118 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries. Quarterback Ryan Dougherty also rushed for a TD and threw for two more on 7-14 for 170 yards. His first score was a 70 yard TD pass to Ramapo’s big-play receiver, Doug Norkett.
Ramapo welcomes Passaic Valley to Franklin Lakes on Friday where they look to improve to 5-2.
Indian Hills took a 44-21 loss to Bergenfield, dropping their fifth in a row after winning on opening day. We hope for a speedy recovery to Ryan Thompson who was removed by ambulance after suffering a neck injury. Quarterback Danny Thompson, Ryan’s brother, threw for 129 yards and ran for 85 before leaving the game with concussion-like symptoms.
Indian Hills will have their hands full on Friday when they host undefeated Pascack Valley (6-0).
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Ramapo sits at 11-2 and ranks 6th in the Top 15 rankings. On Thursday they have a huge rematch at Demarest with first place in the Big North National Division on the line. The Lady Raiders hold a slim half-game lead over the Norsewomen, but they suffered a home loss to them earlier in the year.
