More than $23,000 was donated to Rebecca Salmins' Tackle Kids Cancer campaign.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — A township girl and her father have started a business with the idea of helping others with cancer just as she has helped raise more than $23,000 to assist other kids in their battle against the disease.

Rebecca Salmins, 9, was diagnosed with leukemia and had her last day of chemotherapy Sunday. She completed 790 days of chemotherapy treatments and will have surgery Wednesday to remove a tumor from her neck.

Salmins' father, Gerhard is also a cancer survivor. The father-daughter launched a new bracelet-making business named Knots and Arrows. The name comes from two inspirational quotes that encouraged Salmins and her family as they battled through the life-changing diagnosis.

"When you've reached the end of your rope, tie and knot and hang on," said Salmins' mother, Sherry. "And an arrow can only be shot by dragging it backwards. So, when life seems to be dragging you back, it's getting ready to launch you into something great."

The family will make five different collections totaling 32 different homemade bracelets made of swimsuit material. The family is asking for donations to help get the business off the ground. All funds will go towards production costs, a website, and packaging materials.

All profits from the business will be donated to local area hospitals to help kids battling cancer.
