Wyckoff Committee Approves Emergency Parking Plan

The policy allows commuters to use the Community Park parking lot for free for up to two weeks.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — The Township Committee approved a plan that allows commuters to use part of the Community Park parking lot free if there is an emergency, similar to the light rail crash that happened at the Hoboken terminal last year.

Commuters could use the lot for up to two weeks if there a "transit emergency" and service is disrupted on NJ Transit bus and train lines, including a labor strike.

If the plan is put into effect, the lot will be used on a first-come, first-serve basis and parking permits be waived for up to two weeks. After such time, commuters would need to purchase a temporary permit for $40.

Annual parking permit holders would be given priority for spaces should the lot be in high demand.
