Wyckoff Creating 'Do Not Knock' Registry

The list is designed to keep solicitors from bothering residents and businessowners.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — Solicitors and peddlers will have to mind what homes and businesses they approach if the Township Committee creates a Do Not Knock registry.

The Township Committee introduced legislation Tuesday creating such a registry. People would be prohibited from selling, buying, or disposing of goods or offering to dispose of personal property from people whose names and addresses are registered with the township.

Religious and political solicitations will still be permitted as they are protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
