Wyckoff Honored By AAA For Keeping Pedestrians Safe
Wyckoff is one of 10 municipalities out of nearly 100 to receive the distinction, its 12th award in 14 years.

WYCKOFF, NJ — The township has again been honored for its efforts to promote pedesterian safety.
The township received the Award of Excellence from AAA North Jersey for the 12th time in 14 years. Wyckoff was one of only 10 municipalities in Bergen, Passaic and Hudson counties to receive the award.
The Wyckoff Police Department led several community safety programs with township youth, including:

- Safety talks with students and senior citizens
- Demonstrations by bicycle patrol officers at schools
- Child safety seat inspections
- Periodic reviews of crash data to review cause and make possible changes
- Providing school crossing guards with hand-held LED flashing Stop signs
- Made engineering changes to improve visibility and overall safety at crosswalks
- Officers also met with kids during the annual Safety Town initiatives
- Organized special DWI patrols
The Wyckoff resident newsletter, “Municipal Update” regularly includes safety guidelines for pedestrian safety and motorists’ driving carefully and safely around town. Police Chief David Murphy periodically issues public service announcements that address pedestrian safety, awareness of speed limits, pedestrian Halloween safety, back to school pedestrian safety and stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks.
Other changes include annually repainting road markings and school crosswalks. No-left-turn regulations have been enacted on Monroe and Franklin avenues at certain high-traffic time periods.
