Wyckoff Police Chief Issues Warning About Vandalism On Halloween

Destroying another's property is vandalism and it can have "far reaching consequences beyond the moment's actions," Chief David Murphy said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Police Chief David Murphy has issued a warning about vandalism on Halloween.

"Destroying another's property should be seen in the context of what it is: Vandalism," Murphy said in an announcement. "And it can have far reaching consequences beyond the moment's actions."

Murphy encourages parents to talk to their children about being responsible and having respect for other people's property, with an emphasis on the fact that actions have consequences.

"Children enjoy the trick or treating and the residents who greet them at their front doors enjoy the creativity and excitement of their visitors," Murphy said. Keeping it fun also means keeping it safe and respecting the welfare and property of others."
