Wyckoff Will Receive Silver Award For Sustainability Efforts
The municipality is one of only 39 towns in the state to earn Silver Certification from Sustainable Jersey.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — The township will receive the Silver Award next month from Sustainable Jersey for its ongoing effort to be an environmentally-sustainable community.
Wyckoff is the only Bergen County municipality to earn silver certification from Sustainable Jersey, a voluntary, but rigorous, certification program that honors municipalities' efforts to lower their carbon footprint. There are two levels of certification, bronze and silver.
The township completed 13 of 18 categories to earn the silver certification, which was a combination of efforts by the Shade Tree Commission, Board of Health, township staff, and the Green Team, a volunteer group of residents and officials who forward the township's sustainability efforts.

The township was honored for its ongoing communication with residents about steps they could take to live more sustainable lives, including on Facebook pages for its Mayor's Wellness Program and township government.
Smoking is prohibited on all municipal properties, including parking lots and outside municipal buildings.

Sustainable Jersey also cited the township's website, which features links to sustainable practices and an energy use tracker, as one other municipalities could emulate.
The township is not the only local entity to earn recognition from Sustainable Jersey.
The district's 14 public schools earned a bronze certification earlier this year from the Sustainable Jersey for Schools program. It is the second consecutive year the district has earned the award.
