Wyckoff YMCA Starting New Travel Lacrosse Team For FLOW Area

Tryouts for the team are this weekend.

Local lacrosse coaches Jeff Eischen and Sal Sassano are going to be leading a new boys travel team based in the Wyckoff YMCA in 2012.

The program, called Tribe Lacrosse, will hold tryouts this Sunday, October 23.

According to YMCA Sports Director Pat O'Hagan, the team will start practicing after the regular recreation lacrosse season finishes in June. The travel season lasts through the end of July. O'Hagan said they hope the team will draw players from around the FLOW area, but the team is also open to children in the U12-U15 age range from anywhere.

"We're really excited about it," O'Hagan said. "This is our first year, but the response has been great so far."

Both Eischen and Sassano are also involved with the Wyckoff lacrosse program, which is holding registration October 22 from 10 a.m. to noon and October 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Eisenhower School cafeteria. Registration for Wyckoff lacrosse costs $75.

O'Hagan said he hopes anyone interested in the travel team will stop by the YMCA to register for the tryouts ahead of time. Participation in the team costs $700, which covers everything for the season.
