New Mexico educator circumnavigates the world in 11 months (kob.com) — An Albuquerque assistant principal from Madison Middle School just returned home after nearly a year racing around the world by sailboat, covering 44,000 nautical miles across three oceans. Louis Gonzalez served as medic and repairman on an amateur team, drawing on skills honed at Sandia Peak. He hopes his journey inspires locals to rethink what they consider impossible.
