Albuquerque bans crypto ATMs (atmmarketplace.com) — Albuquerque's City Council has approved an ordinance banning all crypto ATMs and cashier-facilitated cryptocurrency transactions, requiring existing machines to be removed within 45 days. City leaders say the move is meant to protect residents from scams, citing high fees and claims that most local crypto ATM use has been tied to fraud and criminal activity.
   

2. ABQ City Council revokes shelter's permit near the airport (newsradiokkob.com) — Albuquerque city councilors have revoked the permit for a controversial shelter near the airport after months of complaints about crime, trash, and safety concerns along Yale Boulevard. Nearby residents, businesses, and the New Mexico Commission for the Blind say conditions have become hazardous, while the shelter's operator points to added security measures as questions now swirl about the site's future.
   

3. Radar, lanes, and tickets: Inside Albuquerque's speed camera science (kob.com) — Albuquerque drivers are getting a closer look at how the city's 40 speed cameras identify and document violations that can lead to $100 tickets. A Mesa Technologies engineer explains how radar and multiple cameras track specific cars by lane, how humans review every citation, and how non-violators' data is quickly wiped, addressing both enforcement and privacy concerns for residents.
   

4. APS unveils first phase of Harrison Middle School remodel (abqjournal.com subscription) — Harrison Middle School in Albuquerque's South Valley just opened a brand-new wing with a gym, cafeteria, kitchen, and upgraded arts spaces, funded by voter-approved bonds. The project is the first phase of a full campus remodel and part of a broader APS effort to modernize aging schools, bringing new jobs and a sense of investment to South Valley families.
   

5. Albuquerque speed cameras cut city speeding by up to 96% at crash hot spots (kob.com) — Albuquerque officials say the city's 40 speed cameras have cut dangerous speeding by more than half at key crash hot spots, with some locations seeing reductions over 90%. Lawmakers heard that most drivers are only ticketed once, revenue funds safety projects after costs, and residents who can't pay the $100 fine can opt for community service instead.
