How To Make A Heart-Healthy Meal

Successfully eating heart-healthy meals.

Eating a well-balanced diet is beneficial to your heart and your overall health. It is important to make sure that you are getting enough of each essential nutrient, but also to make sure you are not eating too much. Moderation is key when it comes to a healthy diet. A lot of people restrict their calorie intake and think it is doing their body good, when in reality it is very unhealthy.

To ensure you are eating a heart-healthy diet, make sure you are eating lean meats, poultry and fish. Make sure your diet is rich in veggies, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and dairy products. Incorporate healthy fats such as avacados and olive oil, but in moderation. Have each of these throughout your day and make your meals balanced.

Preparation is key when it comes to making sure your meals and diet are healthy. Make sure you grill, steam, broil or bake your meals. Stay away from frying or cooking your meals with heavy creams and butters. Brown bag your lunch so you aren't tempted to eat take-out at work or cookies or treats from your co-workers. Finally, cook for a few nights at a time so you know what you will be eating and you won't be tempted to grab something on the way home from work.
