Spring Nesting... Or Not!

With less than two months until Baby C's anticipated due date I think I should be "nesting"... but I'm not!

We are officially (far) less than two months away from meeting Baby C and I am pretty sure that the nesting gene has skipped my generation. Patrick gutted the nursery and has started renovations. I have a pile of baby gear stacked and organized in another bedroom. We signed up for birthing classes, which take place about two weeks before my due date. That’s about the extent of it.

Shouldn’t we have names picked out? Maybe have a bag packed or even know where we should go in the hospital when I go into labor? I am not even wearing maternity clothes all of the time and that seems odd to me. There aren’t insane cravings or really too many aches and pains as I was expecting. We haven’t actually decided on furniture, let alone ordered it. Or wall colors. Or much of anything. I still basically sleep through the night. I have plans to paint our front porch this weekend and I still walk to the train everyday that I commute to the city.

At my last doctor’s appointment I was given instructions on when I need to stop traveling to the city for work. That date is really soon and I don’t feel ready for it (The doctor won when she told me that I run a higher risk of going into labor on the train or the subway.  Ew.  I’ll stay home). Then I was also told that I would need to come in every two weeks from now until the baby’s birthday for check ups and growth scans. That woke me up a little bit, but still didn’t kick things into high gear. We even had our first of those appointments yesterday (complete with exam because the baby is low). Following that appointment, I walked about a mile to pick up my car from getting inspected. Is that normal seven and a half months pregnant behavior?

Is this nesting situation going to suddenly and totally take over my life? When did you start nesting? What did you get crazy about? Tell me what I’m in for!
