Crimes Nearby: Police Say Serial Bank Robber Caught

A Deer Park man has been arrested and charged with committing four bank robberies over the past two months.
Edward Waller, 42, is charged with three counts of first degree robbery and one count of third degree robbery.
Police say Waller robbed a New York Commercial Bank, located at 720 Grand Boulevard, in Deer Park on Sept. 5 and Oct. 11, as well as a North Babylon TD Bank located at 1361 Deer Park Avenue on Oct. 27. A gun was displayed during the Sept. 5 and Oct. 27 robberies, police said.
Waller is also charged with robbing a Lake Ronkonkoma TD Bank this past Sunday.
Driver Flees Traffic Stop, Ditches Car in Deer Park
Police are looking for a man who fled from a traffic stop and then ditched the unregistered vehicle nearby Wednesday night in Deer Park.
Police say officers pulled over a Cadillac around 10 p.m. for speeding, failing to stop at stop signs and crossing over traffic on Commack Road. The driver then fled and officers decided not to initiate a pursuit, police said.
The unregistered and uninsured Cadillac was found vacated nearby on Bay Shore Road and Carlls Path. A police helicopter and K-9 unit attempted to search for the driver but were unable to locate the man, police said.

Police say a man and woman broke into a countertop jewelry display case at Macy’s, located at 1701 Sunrise Highway North Service Road, and stole two white gold rings with diamonds valued at approximately $1200 on November 5 at 4 p.m.
