Third Home in a Week Burglarized in Deer Park

Police are investigating a home burglary that occurred in Deer Park last week. 

Police say the break-in occurred on Sammis Avenue on Nov. 14 sometime between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Jewelry was stolen from the home. 

There were also two other residential burglaries in Deer Park last week, on W. 22nd Street on Nov. 11 and Eastwood Avenue on Nov. 16. 

Driver Gets 5 1/2 to 16 1/2 Years in Death of John Thomas Gaffney

A 32-year-old Ronkonkoma man was sentenced Monday to 5 and a half years to 16 and a half years in prison for the death of a West Islip five-year-old who was killed in a car accident on Dec. 10, 2011, according to a Newsday report.

The sentencing was the result of a plea deal for aggravated vehicular manslaughter worked out in October, according to the report.

Police Seek Help Identifying Bay Shore Gas Station Burglars

Suffolk Police are asking for the public's help in locating two men who burglarized a Bay Shore gas station and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that results in an arrest.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives say two men broke the front glass door of Sunny Gas, at 1310 5th Avenue, just before 2 a.m. on November 5 and stole an ATM.

Police Looking for Three Target Thieves 

Suffolk County Police are looking for the public's help in identifying three men who allegedly stole cell phone cases from a Target store.

According to the police, three men stole eight Morphie cell phone charger cases from the Target located at 1149 Sunrise Highway in Copiague on November 15 at around 10:25 p.m.
