'Devastating Fire' Rips Through Babylon Shopping Center
The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Saturday.

A Fourth of July fire has caused extensive damage to a Babylon shopping center.
The fire broke out around 10 p.m. at Francesco’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, located at 29 John Street, according to police. The fire then spread to adjoining businesses.

The Babylon Fire Department, with an assist from the West Islip Fire Department, extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.
“Last night we suffered a devastating fire and will be closed until further notice as we rebuild a new Francesco’s,” reads a message posted on the Francesco’s Facebook page Sunday morning.

Stork’s Prime Meats of Babylon posted the following message: “Stork’s will be closed until further notice, due to a devastating fire in the shopping center. Thank God no one was hurt. Thank you for your patience.”
Suffolk County Police Arson Squad detectives are investigating the fire.
