MTA Police Begin Additional Patrol At Babylon LIRR This Week
The additional police presence comes after residents requested it due to criminal activity in the area.

BABYLON, NY - MTA police began their additional patrol at the Babylon Train Station this week.
Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino announced in a Facebook post that starting Monday there will be an active officer present at the LIRR station between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
The additional police presence comes after local officials and residents requested that officers patrol the area due to an increase in crime in the area.

Last year, state Senator Phil Boyle and local Assemblymen Michael LiPetri wrote a letter asking that a police officer be stationed at the local LIRR train station during peak hours following reports of criminal activity.

The MTA announced they planned to increase police presence in January.
"Although we thank the MTA for their support with this situation, meetings will continue to be ongoing with updates, follow up and monitoring of the situation at the Babylon Railroad Station," Scordino wrote in a statement.
