Nearby: Multiple Islip Students Hurt When Bus Crashes Into Fuel Truck

Multiple students from the Islip School District were brought to various hospitals for precautionary or non-life threatening injuries after their school bus collided with a fuel truck in Bay Shore, police said.

Police said the fuel truck was traveling east on the Sunrise Highway South Service Road when it crashed into the bus, which was traveling north on Saxon Avenue. There is a traffic light at the intersection, but police did not say which vehicle had the green light at the time of the crash.

Most of the students injured were ages 13-17, police said. The driver of the fuel truck was not injured and the bus driver refused medical attention, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
