A Mastic Beach woman told police that the brakes on her SUV failed and caused her to run a red light, triggering a three-car crash in West Babylon Tuesday morning.
Three people, including Julieann Klopfer, the driver of the SUV, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash at the intersection of Straight Path and Little East Neck Road at about 9:45 a.m.

According to police, Klopfer was driving a Chevy Suburban north on Straight Path when she ran the red light at Little East Neck Road and crashed into a Saturn driven by a West Babylon man. The Saturn then spun into a Chrysler four-door sedan that was waiting at the light to turn onto Little East Neck Road, police said.
Klopfer and a passenger in her vehicle, as well as the driver of the Saturn, were all taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
