32-Foot Inflatable Igloo Stolen in North Brooklyn
The stolen igloo belongs a Brooklyn-based "spatial sound artist" who uses it to host "immersive sound baths."
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn-based "spatial sound artist" who plays "music that explores the boundaries of modern conventions" inside a 16-foot-tall, 32-foot-wide inflatable igloo (pictured above) had the igloo stolen from his van in Bed-Stuy last Thursday, the artist wrote on Reddit.
Tom Montagliano tours the country hosting "immersive sound bath" shows inside the igloo. But all that came to a halt last week, when his van was stolen with the igloo inside, he told Bushwick Daily.
The artist said he left his 2001 Ford Econoline parked near the Kosciuszko Pool, a public swimming pool at 670 Marcy Ave. When he returned to the parking space, he said, his car was gone.

Hours later, he said he found his van parked one mile east in Bushwick, near the intersection of Bushwick and Willoughby avenues — with a missing ignition, stereo and generator, and no igloo inside.
Immersive Igloo, meet the Washington Monument. Come down to the Catharsis this weekend and escape the insanity for a bit.

Montagliano paid $3,000 to have the igloo custom made in China, and it took three months to arrive by mail, he told Bushwick Dail.

He said the thieves didn't take the device needed to inflate the igloo — so they're now basically stuck with a deflated, 300-pound pile of rubber.
"I don't think the people who stole it know what it is," Montagliano told the local paper.
So if you see a lump of white rubber wrapped in green tarp and tied closed with several ropes, by all means: Let a spacial sound artist know. He can be contacted (585) 615-6303 or tom@immersivesoundbaths.com.
