4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration Family Festival

“Juneteeth Celebration 2014” Kicks off June 7th in Brooklyn, NY Rejoice, Reflect, Renew

KowTeff is proud to announce our 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, co-sponsored by Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza’s Skylight Gallery. Come out and celebrate Juneteenth in the heart of Brooklyn! Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the U.S.

ENJOY A FULL DAY OF FREE EVENTS!

The Juneteenth Celebration will feature dynamic performances by professional and local arts groups, a Health and Fitness Expo (with resources, consultations, and adult & children's fitness classes), art exhibit by Sol'Sax, natural hair show, film festival, children's dance class, and African Marketplace with some of the best vendors in town...ALL FREE OF CHARGE!

The Juneteenth will also offer a Community Dance Class and Opening Reception (for which donations will be accepted), as well as a Master Dance Class ($15). Come on out and enjoy the festivities!

The annual Juneteenth Celebration hosted by KowTeff and the Restoration Plaza’s Skylight Gallery has proven to be extremely successful, and will return to Brooklyn for the fourth time this Saturday, June 7th, 2014. The event will take place at Restoration Plaza’s Skylight Gallery in Brooklyn, NY from 11:00 am -7:00 pm. The event is free to the public to enjoy, encourage, and empower.

The KowTeff School of African Dance is a non-profit organization with the mission of preserving and perpetuating the diverse folklore of African peoples through quality education and entertainment. The KowTeff School of African Dance artistically and creatively uses dance, music (song and drum), and the spoken word to keep alive the cultural values, principles, and customs of African tradition. We are committed to excellence and integrity in the training of dancers and musicians, the dissemination of knowledge related to African, Caribbean, and African American history and cultural art forms, the delivery of performances that celebrate such art forms, and the development of community-based programs that utilize the cultural arts to uplift people of African descent.
