BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A musical battle is coming to the Black Lives Matter mural in Bed-Stuy.

Council Member Robert Cornegy has planned an event later this month to feature musicians from historically Black colleges and universities with a "Battle of the Bands" face-off at the Fulton Street mural.

The six-hour battle will invite DJs and marching band alumni from schools across the country to compete, according to a flyer.

"Shout out in advance to all the DJs and marching bands that are going to make this the hottest Battle of The Bands you've ever seen!" Cornegy wrote. "Come out let's have fun and most of all spread love!"

The battle will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 24. It will require face masks and social distancing from all participants. Find out more here:

The event is the latest to be held at the Black Lives Matter mural since it was painted on Fulton Street between New York and Brooklyn avenues in June. Other events have included a "Black Love Matters" wedding, a "Black Laughs Matter" comedy show and a celebration of local businesses.
