This Is Where Bed-Stuy Hates Ice Cream
A new study shows where in Bed-Stuy residents are not chill with Mr. Softee.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN -- When it comes to ice cream trucks, don't tell Bed-Stuy to chill.
Bed-Stuy is among a dozen New York City neighborhoods where residents do not have a soft spot for Mr. Softee, according to a new report from Localize.city, a hyperlocal data analysis guide.
The study, aptly titled, "Where New Yorkers are Least Chill with the Mister Softee Song" analyzed the nearly 1,280 ice cream truck complaints the city received in the past year to determine where the jingles jangle nerves the most.

Bed-Stuy was host to four anti-ice cream clusters, which Localize analysts noted are most likely to be found near parks.
- John Hancock Playground at Jefferson and Bedford avenues
- Herbert Von King Park at Greene and Tompkins avenues
- Hattie Carthan Community Garden and Banneker Playground at Lafayette and Marcy avenues
- Tranquility Farm at Willoughby and Throop avenues
But Bed-Stuy bucked a Brooklyn trend, according to the report. Across the borough, complaints dropped by 25 percent last year.
