Nyack and Piermont's 2016 Guide to Fourth of July Fireworks

Enjoy the aahs and the oohs and the wonderful lights -- and get some context at a historic Revolutionary War site.

It wouldn't be the Fourth of July without fireworks displays.

And they're not by any means all on July 4. Here's a list of 2016 fireworks events in Rockland County.

June 17, 18
Looking for some early excitement?
Try the Rockland Boulders over the June 17 weekend. The Boulders also have fireworks June 24, 25 and July 1,2,3 and 4.

June 26
The Town of Ramapo will host a fireworks display June 26 at Rockland Community College. The gates open at 6 p.m. There will be a concert from 8:15 to 9:15, followed by a 25-minute fireworks display. Come early, bring a blanket and picnic. Admission is free. The rain date for the fireworks only is 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 27.

Clarkstown will hold its Independence Day celebration June 30. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Nanuet High School, 103 Church Street. A concert featuring the “Mighty Spectrum Band” will start at 8 p.m. with fireworks following. The rain date is July 1.

July 2

West Point Military Academy will celebrate Independence Day with fireworks and a concert by the United States Military Academy band. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2 at Trophy Point Amphitheater, West Point, New York. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place on Sunday, July 3.

July 4
The Village of Nyack will hold its annual fireworks display at 9 p.m. on July 4 in Memorial Park on the Hudson River. The display can be seen from any place in the village with a clear view of the southeast sky.

The Pearl River Board of Trade sponsors a free concert and fireworks display at the East Central Avenue ball field on Monday, July 4. The free concert starts about 7 p.m. and the fireworks start at 9 p.m. in the field behind the Pearl River Library. It is visible from surrounding streets.

And remember, it's not all about fireworks!

Get some context with some local history.

The Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site will celebrate the 240th birthday of the United States with a guided walking tour of the battlefield. An illustrated lecture on the development of the Declaration of Independence will take place at 1 p.m. Monday July 4, the Declaration will be read at 2 p.m. and cannons will be fired at 2:45 p.m.
