Saw Mill Parkway Head-On Wrong Way Crash Sends 6 To Hospital
Bedford police shut down the nearby exit ramp so emergency vehicles could enter the parkway from the wrong way.

BEDFORD, NY — Victims of a head-on, wrong way crash had to be removed from vehicles by firefighters this weekend.
Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, the Bedford Hills Fire Department was called to the Saw Mill River Parkway for a reported head-on crash with a victim pinned in the wreckage. The crash in the northbound lanes at Exit 39 shut down both lanes of the parkway.
With limited access to the scene, Bedford police shut down the nearby exit ramp so emergency vehicles could enter the parkway from the wrong way.

Crews performed a "door pop" to access one of the victims, while other first responders stabilized the vehicles, worked to control potenially hazardous fluid spills and helped to treat and triage the injured.
The Katonah-Bedford Hills Ambulance Corps responded with three ambulances and transported a total of six patients to local hospitals.
