Cops: Fake Cab Driver Beat, Robbed Passenger in Merrick
Cab driver picked men up from Sugar Club in Carle Place, cops said.

Two men were robbed by a man masquerading as a cab driver in Merrick on their way home from a club New Years night, according to Nassau County Police.
Cops said two 21-year-olds left Sugar Club on Voice Road in Carle Place and got into a gold 2000 GM SUV that appeared to be a taxi.

The driver brought the two to Meadowbrook Road and Michael William Road in Merrick and demanded cash from them, police said. One of the men refused and the driver got out of the car and pulled the victim from their seat. The driver threw the victim to the ground, punched him, and took money from the victim’s front left pocket before driving off in the car.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene, police said. No injuries were reported for the other man.
The driver was described as a black man, dark complexion, and was wearing a black vest and blue jeans at the time.
