Police: Three Cashiers Arrested For Selling Alcohol to a Minor

Ten local stores refused to sell alcohol to a minor on New Year's Eve, police say.

Three cashiers at local stores were arrested during an Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation on Wednesday, State Police said.

The New York State Police Barracks in Riverside conducted the operation in the towns of Riverhead and Southampton, and three stores sold alcoholic beverages to an underage police agent, police said.

  • One 12-pack of Bud Light beer was purchased from Ingrid Elias-Nistal, 28, a cashier at Hampton Deli in Flanders
  • One 12-pack of Bud Light beer was purchased from Raquel Hernandez-Gomez, 28, a cashier at Garden Deli in Flanders
  • One bottle of Bacardi rum was purchased from Yan Fan Yeung, 43, a cashier at Lucky Wine and Liquors in Riverhead

All three cashiers were charged with first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage.

Police said the following 10 establishments were also targeted and they refused to sell alcohol to the minor:
