Police: Glen Cove Man Drove Drunk at 106 MPH With His 3 Kids in Car
Man arrested in Hampton Bays Wednesday afternoon, police say.

A Glen Cove man faces a felony DWI charge after police say he was drunk and driving at 106 mph on Sunrise Highway in Hampton Bays with his three children in his vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
State Police said a trooper pulled over a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by 49-year-old Mark E. Palmer for speeding at about 3:15 p.m. on the eastbound side of Sunrise Highway, west of Exit 65.
While interviewing Palmer, the trooper observed signs of intoxication, police said.

Palmer failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI, police said.
Palmer’s three children–ages 11, 9 and 6–were passengers in the truck, police said.

Palmer is charged with aggravated DWI–a felony under Leandra’s Law–endangering the welfare of a child and several traffic violations. He is being held in police custody for arraignment Thursday morning in Southampton Town Justice Court.
The children were released to a family member, police said.
