• Bellmore Fire Department Adds 2 New Wheels (patch.com) — Bellmore's volunteer firefighters just added two modern trucks to better handle floods and tough emergencies around town, including a new high‑water 608 unit and a multi‑use Rescue 8. Funded in part by a federal grant, the vehicles replace an aging surplus truck that proved vital during Irene and Sandy, giving the Bellmore Fire Department more reliable, easier‑to‑operate equipment for future storms and rescues.
   

• Liberty Utilities customers balk at its proposed water rate hikes (longislandpress.com) — Bellmore and North Bellmore residents in Liberty's Merrick water district could see monthly water bills rise by about $21 if proposed rate hikes are approved, on top of already high costs. The plan, now before state regulators, has sparked strong pushback from Nassau officials and customers who say infrastructure upgrades shouldn't further burden already stretched households.
   

• Rockville Centre's Alyssa Davoli takes BOCES principal role (liherald.com) — A Rockville Centre educator with roots in the North Bellmore school district has been promoted to principal of Nassau BOCES Carman Road School, which serves students with multiple disabilities. Alyssa Davoli's career began as a substitute in North Bellmore classrooms, and she now plans to use her special‑education expertise and leadership training to strengthen instruction and support for some of Long Island's most vulnerable students.
