The Chapel School Partners with Feeding Westchester

Bronxville, NY- On Friday, November 1st, members of The Chapel School’s eighth grade along with parent volunteers and teachers visited Feeding Westchester. The mission of Feeding Westchester is to end hunger in Westchester County. The food bank sources and distributes food and other resources to local towns to help feed Westchester.

Each year the school chooses ministries to support. They are partners in the community or a ministry they are passionate about supporting. The Chapel School Offering Recipient for the month of November is Feeding Westchester. The school will make multiple trips throughout the year, and the class of 2020 participated in one of these trips.

During their time at “Feeding Westchester” the students sorted non-perishable items. These were donated through the Retail Recovery program. Students had to check expiration dates, sort into categories, box and weigh the items. “It was a perfect way for families and individuals to put their faith into action,” stated Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, Senior Pastor at Village Lutheran Church.

The Chapel School is a place where service as a way of life is promoted to all students and families. This field trip is just one occasion when Chapel puts this belief into action. Students participate in Midnight Runs, food collections for ECAP, and other projects to help those in need throughout the school year. Sharing time, talents, and treasures with people in the community and around the world distinguishes The Chapel School as a caring place where God's love is freely shared. "The Chapel School is a place where we teach service as a way of life,” stated Mr. Michael Schultz, Principal at The Chapel School. “We focus on developing compassionate, empathetic and charitable hearts and heeding a call to action to bring peace and relief to the disadvantaged and underserved.”

The Chapel School is located at 172 White Plains Road in Bronxville, New York. For more information about The Chapel School, please call 914-337-3202 or visit the website at www.thechapelschool.org.
