The Chapel School Students Are Surprised with Mystery Readers
Bronxville, NY – On Wednesday, October 16th, students in The Chapel School Preschool and lower grades welcomed some neighborhood visitors to their classrooms. The visitors were students from neighboring Concordia College’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Concordia students visited a total of 19 classes where they read stories, answered questions and shared some laughs. “This is Audrey, she plays softball at Concordia,” stated one teacher when introducing the mystery reader to her class. The preschools were quick to welcome her and relate, “My sister is named Audrey. I walk by that school everyday.” The class then went on to read one of their favorite books, giggling at all the funny parts. “That pigeon is silly,” stated one student. “I liked the end because they shared,” said another.
The Chapel School's Director of Early Childhood Education, Michelle Tween, is thrilled about continuing this partnership. "It is a pleasure to create opportunities for Concordia's SAAC with Carly Marten. Concordia's Student-athletes take these chances to engage with our students seriously. They continue to provide a perfect balance of being a great role model with a tremendous amount of fun and great energy! We have a great partnership and ALL of the students benefit from it!"
