Community Member Ralph Schoene Receives Pro Deo Et Schola Award

Bronxville, NY- The 2017-2018 Pro Deo Et Schola Award was presented to Mr. Ralph Schoene on Sunday, June 3rd. The Pro Deo Et Schola Award honors people for their nurturing and enhancement of Christian ministry.

Pro Deo Et Schola is Latin “for God and school.” Ralph has been a member of Village Lutheran Church since 1992, and quickly became involved as an usher. He served on the Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2017, specifically as treasurer from 2007-2017 during which time his godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness were ever present through some trying times. Ralph has completed many marathons over the years, many of which to raise money for Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School. He completed the NYC full marathon as part of the first ever Team Chapel in 2011 also completed the NYC Half in 2017 for Team Chapel Arts.

Commenting on the award, Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, senior pastor of Village Lutheran Church stated, “Ralph is an amazing churchman and his steady and wise leadership has seen us through challenging times. We are so grateful!”
