Eastchester Columbus Day Celebration Carnival and Parade

The Eastchester Columbus Day Celebration Committee has announced this year’s Grand Marshal and Honorees for the 2016 Columbus Day Parade.

James Romeo Jr., a lifelong Eastchester resident, has been named as Grand Marshal. This year’s recipient of the Monsignor Anthony Maltese Humanitarian Award is Rita Mastroberardino. The David R. DiRubba Community Service Award has been given to Elliot and Diane Senderoff.

This year’s Chairman of the Eastchester Columbus Day Celebration Committee is Stuart Rabin who has been a member of the committee for nine years. He remarked, “This year will mark our festival’s 10th anniversary and will once again be a wonderful fall weekend packed with all things Italian; from music, to cuisine, to the vendors and beyond. The Eastchester Columbus Day Celebration Committee looks forward to planning this event each year and are proud and honored to have the support of our residents and volunteers that aid us in making Eastchester Columbus Day the Premier Columbus Day Celebration throughout the county of Westchester.”

The Grand Sponsor of the event is Value Drugs of Eastchester. Supervisor Anthony S. Colavita said, “The Committee chose exceptional honorees this year. We are proud of each of them. Each has contributed a great deal of time and energy to enhance the lives of their fellow residents and are deserving of such a great distinction.”

The Eastchester Columbus Day Parade will take place on Sunday October 9th beginning at 3:30 from Immaculate Conception Church and continuing up White Plains Rd. to Lake Isle Country Club. The Columbus Day Festival will run from Friday, October 7th through Monday, October 10th at Lake Isle.
