Operation PROM's Fashion U Adds More Classes
With sewing classes selling out, the organization has scheduled more classes for the Summer and Fall!

The nation’s largest prom non-profit organization, Operation PROM, launched “Fashion U” this summer, offering a variety of fashion design courses to children and teens at their national headquarters in New Rochelle, NY. The curriculum will teach students everything from textiles to sketching, design and sewing - which has proved to be a lost art in the fashion industry.
Noel D’Allacco, Founder of Operation PROM and Fashion U, explains why sewing has been in such high demand, “the students enrolling in our courses are as young as 7 years old, and have a great interest in sewing, primarily because a grandmother or family member has introduced them to sew, or they love Project Runway!” But, still in today’s fashion industry, finding a good seamstress is like finding a needle in a haystack. Fashion U will help open doors for those who want to work within the fashion industry, or who want to sew as a hobby and save hundreds by making their own clothing, accessories, and alterations.
Fashion U’s Summer Camp still has some availability in late July and August, offering classes in New Rochelle as well as White Plains, in the ArtsWestchester building. The organization will also offer fashion themed birthday parties starting in the Fall, after school classes, and even Halloween costume making. “And, we’re not leaving the adults out,” says D’Allacco. Evening classes will be available for adults who wish to learn the basics of sewing too.
