Running in the Yonkers Marathon for Aisling Irish Community Center

Aisling Irish Community Center is pleased to collaborate with the Yonkers Marathon with Team Aisling. In early 2018, an amazing group of friends and supporters of the Aisling Irish Community Center, formed Team Aisling, now over 200 people have come together with a common goal, to take part in the Yonkers marathon, while creating awareness and raising much-needed funds for its vital programs and services.

Members of Team Aisling are currently training to run the Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K in Yonkers on October 21, 2018. The Team is coming together, is strong and is growing every day and we invite all runners to take that first step, to take the challenge and join Team Aisling. Whether you are running your first marathon or your 100th Marathon, training can be a whirlwind and stressful. Thus, the idea of running as a team eases the worry and provides the much-needed support all runners have. Driving the motivation of the team is the sense of giving back to a charity who has given so much to the community over the past twenty plus year and continues to hear the needs of the community by adding new and vital programs. Team Aisling will be running for a cause; the Aisling Irish Community Center. Every runner will bring awareness to the center and can help someone in need of services from the Aisling Center. Reach out to Sharon at 914-237-5121 or sharon@aislingcenter.org to join. Team Aisling welcomes first time runners, experienced marathoners, and everyone in-between.

The Yonkers Marathon is now in its 93rd year, is the second Oldest Marathon in the US, and is a pre-qualifier to the Boston Marathon. The marathon is seeing a boost in registration already this year, in part because of Team Aisling supporters. The start/finish line is a stone’s throw from the Hudson River and takes place in the fall with a spectacular view of the Palisades Cliffs that is breathtaking beyond belief. The run is challenging, but this is one reason why the team is supporting each other with runs, training and the support and knowledge of coaches in nutrition and conditioning.
