Team Chapel Runs the TCS New York City Marathon
Bronxville, NY- On Sunday, November 3rd, "Team Chapel" ran the TCS New York City Marathon to raise awareness and funds The Chapel School Scholarship Program. “The Chapel School was thrilled to partner with the TCS New York City Marathon as an official charity partner,” stated Kim Zwisdak, The Chapel School’s Development Office Project Manager. This year The Chapel School had three dedicated members of the team running on behalf of The Chapel School’s Scholarship Fund. “The TCS New York City Marathon provides a powerful platform for our passionate charity runners to fundraise and raise awareness for causes that are close to their hearts.”
The team consisted of Pastor Jacob Heine, Carlos Juarez and Pastor Travis Yee and raised over $9,300. “The excitement and sense of accomplishment the runners experience is inspiring” said Kim Zwisdak, The Chapel School Development Office Project Manager. “We are very thankful for their commitment and dedication.”
The Team Coach and Senior Pastor of the Church and School, Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, helped form the charity team several years ago. Team Chapel runs in the New York City full marathon to raise money for scholarships and Team Chapel Arts runs in the half marathon in support of The Chapel School Art Programs. Speaking about the dedication of the runners, he said, “To commit to a marathon, both physically and mentally, is a testimony to their care for our school and students."

When asked about his experience, Pastor Jacob Heine stated, “Running the TCS NYC Marathon was an amazing experience. I have never seen crowd support and encouragement along a course like I did Sunday. There is no doubt what makes this marathon one of the best and a World Majors Marathon." When asked about training and dedicating his time in the months leading up to the event he responded, “…being able to run on behalf of The Chapel School was a special sort of honor. I was able to stay focused for the months leading up to this race knowing that I was not just raising money for some organization, but I was bringing along with me on this journey kids who would receive a great education and continue to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, because I chose to run for them. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.”
Families choose The Chapel School for the quality education and nurturing environment that is provided for their children. “For many students, the cost of tuition requires that they either receive financial help or enroll in another academic setting which may not provide the academic excellence and emotional support that The Chapel School offers so well,” stated Principal Michael Schultz.
