Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School Collect Donations for Puerto Rico

Bronxville, NY- Hurricane Maria has devastated the entire island of Puerto Rico and many were looking for ways to help. Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School joined with New York City’s efforts to gather the most critically-needed items. School and church members were encouraged to bring requested items (batteries, diapers, baby food, first aid supplies and feminine hygiene products) to the school and church on the weekends of October 1st & 8th. The donations were then delivered to a designated firehouse.

The Chapel School PTO along with Nelly Palumbo, the point person of the effort at the church & school said, “The generosity of the families from The Chapel School & Village Lutheran Church has always been great.” The school & church received boxes and boxes of donations, and numerous trips were made to the firehouse to deliver the supplies. “These donations will help so many people in Puerto Rico, the place where I was born and is very dear to me.” Daily pickups were made at the firehouses and the supplies were sent each day on Jetblue direct flights to the island.
